Virtue and Assurance

"The rewards of grace in eternity will correspond to the work of grace in time."

2 Peter 1:5-11

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

For if these things be in you and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But he that lacketh these things is blind and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Where do I find assurance of salvation? In the knowledge of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That at a time when in my life when I was going astray in the world I came to the realization that it was Jesus that I needed to be following and not the wisdom or the ways of the world. That it is by Him and Him alone that one finds complete forgiveness and cleansing of sin. He alone will abundantly pardon and forgive all sin, and grant entrance into heaven. And I can have continued assurance of my salvation because of my desires. I do not desire to have the things of this world but that I should be equipped and ready to serve and to worship my faithful Creator.
