Subversive Materials

I came home to find two boxes on the table today, containing many subversive materials carefully calculated to undermine my dependance on the things of this world and my faith in men. Pray for me.

1. a CD, Exalted Worship with songs sung by Scott Krippayne, prayers by Kirk Cameron, and an introduction by John MacArthur.

No manipulation. No shallow lyrics. No squishy sentiments.
Exalted Worship lifts God up high and brings man very low. The result; a truly God glorifying and thoroughly edifying hour of worship. Scott presents worship songs and hymns that are instantly singable and profoundly biblical. Kirk will lead you in prayers and confessions that will lead you to love your Savior even more. Spend an hour in Exalted Worship and you will praise Jesus for so great a salvation.

I love this CD .

2. a book, A Gospel Primer for Christians by Milton Vincent

To the Christians in Rome, the Apostle Paul says, "I am eager to preach the gospel to you who are at Rome" (Romans 1:15) Evidently, Christians need to hear the gospel even after conversion; and A Gospel Primer for Christians is designed to help you do just that. By showing you how you can preach the gospel to yourself each day, this book will help you savor the glories of God's love and experience the life-transforming power of the gospel in all areas of life. Use this book to preach the gospel to yourself on a daily basis, and be amazed at the difference it can make in your life!

I love the concept of preaching the gospel to myself every day and I can't wait to read this book.

3. a DVD, Terrified! How to overcome the fear of sharing your faith by Todd Friel.

Are you afraid to share your faith? Does the thought of witnessing make you stammer? Then congratulations! You are qualified. Paul came to the Corinthians with ear, no eloquence and much trembling. If that sounds like you, then you are qualified to do the most compassionate thing a Christian can do... share the cure for eternal death.

We live in a world of self proclaimed intellectuals, evolutionists, post-modernists, and atheists, but you don't need to be an expert in ANY of those areas. You simply need to know the Biblical principles for sharing your faith and you will be in control of every witness encounter.

If you are a Christian, you know someone who is not saved. Please, overcome your fears for their sake. Let this CD help you.

Includes step by step study manual and MP3 CD with 26 witness encounters varying from lapsed Lutheran to angry Catholic.

4. MICAH Audio Commentary by Richard Phillips. This is an audio CD that I received from the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals , I've been looking at their stuff recently, and I think they have a lot of good teachers over there.

Our Christian heritage in America is disappearing at a rapid rate. Things that once appalled us now have become commonplace. Even Christians have fallen prey! Are you grieved by the brokenness that is caused by sin? Or, have you become numb to the seductions of this world? Micah has very pertinent words for us to take heed. He calls us to true repentance through Godly grief and sorrow before it is too late.

Many today have rejected Christianity because they believe God to be too demanding - too many rules and restrictions, quenching a life full of joy and freedom. When in reality, God is not a God of legalism ready to crush you for your mistakes, but a God of great compassion full of mercy and ready for forgiveness. This is our incomparable God!

5. These Last Days: A Christian View of History, with a big list of authors

Alistair Begg, D.A. Carson, J. Ligon Duncan III, Sinclair Ferguson, Michael S. Horton, Jeffrey K. Jue, Richard D. Phillips, Paul David Tripp, Cornelis P. Venema

This is a book about an evil age. Specifically, if is about "the present evil age" that we live in right
now. For many Christians, the expression "these last days" refers to the time right before the second coming of Christ - but according to the apostles, the last days started with the first coming of Christ and continue even today. How do we biblically understand our time as the final age of world history? What does this mean for our faith?

I can't wait to read a book like that. It makes me wish I knew how to read. aha ha ha.

6. ACTS: An expositional commentary by James Montgomery Boice

"There's nothing today's church needs so much as to rediscover the doctrine, spirit, and commitments of the early Christian community." writes James Montgomery Boice

The power the early church exhibited for changws and growth is overwhelming. Although it faced enormous obstacles - it was completely new, it taught truths that seemed unbelievable, and it suffered intense hatred and persecution - the church managed to spread across the early world within the lifetime of the first generation of believers.

In fifty chapters that progress through the book of Acts. Boice issues a challenge to believers to follow the first-century church. We are encouraged to glean the vital principles that enabled the early church to expand, and then apply them to our modern-day church. If we take time to study the expansion of the early church, we can spread the gospel the way it was spread during the first century - by the faithful preaching and teaching of the great truths of the Bible.
