Okay, that title doesn't make any sense. Today is May 3rd. I think it would be good to give a list of the books that have been delivered to my house (I have no idea how those got there or who ordered them, or found money to pay for them, ha ha)
Christ Formed In You by Brian G. Hedges
"This is a book about spiritual formation, the 'grace-driven developmental process in which the soul grows in conformity to the image of Christ' The acid test of all spiritual formation is this: Are you becoming more like Jesus? Are the contours of your character being shaped by his image, formed in his likeness? This ongoing transformation is possible for you. You can become more and more like Jesus Christ. But there is only one way: through your increasing understanding and application of the gospel. That's what this book is about."
So, I'll probably read that book but I don't know when I will get started. It's a big one...
A Proverbs Driven Life by Anthony Salvaggio
I'm not going to say anything about this book. just that it looks good and I will probably keep it around for a long time.
Everyday Talk by John A. Younts
Talking freely and naturally about God with your children. I bought this book, not because I have children and would like to talk them freely and naturally about God, but because I haven't been so free or natural with my conversations about God with my parents! Yikes! So I don't want to make that mistake anymore, but would rather like to talk freely and naturally, so that's why I bought this book.
When Sinners Say I Do
Okay, this is an audio book about marriage, or if you prefer, "mawwiage". I'm going to listen to it eventually because I've been thinking about this lately and I'd like to have a clear and sober perspective on what marriage really is. And because some day, you never know, I might find myself involved in a freak lab accident which caused something strange to happen and I might find I'm in a position in my life where I would actually be able to play the part a real man! And I want to be ready if that happens.
The Cross-centered life by C.J. Maheney
Keeping the gospel the main thing. This is a little book, but it creates big change. Seriously, That's what the back cover says, and if it's about the gospel I don't doubt it one bit, especially considering who it is written by. I had a chance to listen to Pastor C's preaching on the internet, and let me tell you, it was really good. I don't remember what it was all about, but it was passionate, well thought out, and strongly delivered, he's a top-notch preacher and now I'm going to read one of his books.
The Grand Weaver by Ravi Zacharias
Okay, this is an audio book and I'm going to listen to my brother Ravi talk about how God shapes us through the events of our lives... and he has that really neat accent so you know it's going to be good! Ravi Zacharias is a really big thinker.
Most: The Deluxe Edition
Okay, this one isn't a book at all, but it is a movie! Most is Czech for the Bridge. It is a really neat story about one man who has to make an incredibly profound decision. I believe he made the right one, and I think God totally got all the glory because of it! It's a neat movie, 30 minutes long, in Czech with English subtitles. High on my list of deeply thoughtful movies.
Oh, and I also got an ESV Study Bible and free access to to Online ESV Study Bible. that's going to be a lot of fun to bring to Bible study (the former, not the latter.)
I've got lots of things to read and to listen to which will help me think more clearly about God.
I am continually thankful to Jesus my Lord, and for His great salvation. When God saved me He brought me from a profound and ignorant darkness into an even greater light and I am for ever grateful to have His love!
I pray that God will bless you and give you many wonderful thoughts about Him in the days, weeks, and months to come and that He will bring to you many good quality books for you to read and enjoy!
In Christ alone...
Jeremy
